Toronto-based artist, Matthew Morales, is a professional dancer from Markham, Ontario. He began his formal dance training as a street dancer at VYbE Dance Studio, continuing on with a career as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and event organizer. Through his work, Matthew uses his technical approach and experimental intuition to break barriers and blur the lines in urban culture.
Matthew’s most notable credits include The Toronto Raptors North Side Crew, The Toronto Argonauts A-Team, Raptors 905, Levis, Feist, and The Industry Season 4. His awards include 6 championship titles as a competitive post-secondary dancer and the Best Up & Coming Choreographer Award from Kindred Culture in 2016. Additionally, he held the role as the President of McMaster’s Urban Dance club, organizing dozens of workshops, showcases, and classes in the span of his two-year presidency.
Matthew is a recent Business graduate from McMaster University and is continuing his professional career in the arts. He continues to teach students of all ages, skill levels, and abilities. Most recently, Matthew has taken his talents to the York Region District School Board Arts Camp as an Artist in Residence and as an artist-educator for DAREarts. Currently, he is creating youth-focused dance workshops to foster the growing talent in the York Region. Matthew strives to connect aspiring dancers in the York Region with each other and build their relationships with the Greater Toronto Area Dance community.
