Canadian artist Sára Molčan captures the modern ‘20s style of dating, love and heartache in her large scale conceptual realism paintings. Unequivocally millennial, Molčan’s work addresses the careful curation of personas, our imperfect existence, and the ambivalence towards romantic partners in the digital era. Influenced by digital culture, memes, reality television, the sociopolitical history of interracial relationships, and the internet, her paintings seek to occupy space between reality and fiction. Molčan’s work has been featured on SAD Mag, Vancouver is Awesome, the BBC, The Today Show, Huffington Post, and The Peak, among others. She currently lives and works in Vancouver.
